Visit from Santa...

Some women love getting new jewelry for Christmas, I love getting new tools.

My new stocking stuffer tool I just got for Christmas from my friend Don is a little square that has magnets in the base. It is very nice for squaring up tools with steel tops such as the band saw, scroll saw, drill press table etc. But it is also a wonderful jig for squaring up miniature projects. You know those metal boards you use with magnets for assembling things? Yes, it will work great on those for holding tall pieces in upright positions. How cool is that? The measurements are in inches on one side and metrics on the other.
It is marketed by Fast Cap

Rockler sells them too.

Oh, I am with you all the way, ever since my babies tried to strangle me with my own jewelry, I have never bothered with any, I can spend hours in a tool shop, in South Africa it does get you some weird looks and the guys always ask in a voice of unbelief "you do the turning yourself????, you use a band saw?????" I am used to being treated like an alien from some weird never have heard of it planet. HaHa , I love the looks on their faces!!!!! And in this day and age, oh well, I guess it is quite rare in many circles for women to get excited about tools.

Enjoy your new one and I will dream with you about that perfect saw!!!!

Elga, times are changing and there are more women everyday joining the industrial revolution! I think it has a lot to do with all the DYI shows on television.

But it has become much more difficult to learn how to make things as schools rarely teach wood and metal shop classes, even sewing classes have gone away. Students in the USA have to wait until they are older and take trade school classes for that.

Hi Karin, I'm all for equality in every sense LOL
I love the Square, really useful especially with the magnets. I won't even start saving for the new machine :-(
Here's to many more presents...

Yes it is the same here, I still had sewing at school, my one daughter did Hotel and Management in school, but you have to take extra classes here too for most hands on skills from private institutions.

Who needs baubles and bangles and bright shiny beads when you can have a rockin' new tool!

I'm holding out for a 3-D copier! (Are you listening, Santa, baby)?
